I had volunteered with International Volunteer Headquarters in a boy's orphanage in Peru for one week and traveled around for one more. During that week we played games, taught english, and did cleaning for the staff. I went with my mom and I had a great time! The second week we went to Machu Picchu and Lake Sandoval in the Amazon Jungle!
I took along my Sony A55 to Machu Picchu and to the Amazon Rainforest. So I decided to share a few of my favorite images from Peru on my photography blog. I also have some of my IPhone images of daily activities in Cusco on my Instagram (including eating Cuy- AKA Guinea Pig!)
Lake Sandoval Lodge! This was my favorite part about Peru! We did lots of nature hikes, wildlife viewing, and boat rides. In the following pictures I have the accommodations, which were lodges with screen panels for sides and mosquito nets over the beds. No wifi or cell towers, just jungle! We had a personal guide, Roger, who ate with us and told us about the abundant nature. We saw all kind of animals- monkeys (squirrel, howler, and capuchin), the giant river otters, birds, agouti, bugs, and lots more! It was so much fun!
